Privacy Policy

What GUARD collects, why we collect it, and how it is used to run the service.

Last updated 25 August 2026

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the GUARD consumer application and the people who create a GUARD account. GUARD helps you check sellers before you pay, track deadlines, and organise purchases. GUARD reports evidence and signals — it does not certify that any seller, business or website is safe.

2. Information we process

  • Account information — your email address, name if you provide one, authentication details handled by our authentication provider, and your notification and privacy preferences.
  • Investigation information — the URLs, business names, seller names and additional notes you submit when you run a Check, along with the evidence and verdict produced for that Check.
  • Watch information — the renewals, bills, trials, deadlines and expiry dates you add, and the reminders sent to you about them.
  • Purchase information — purchases you record, including seller, order reference, amount, dates, notes and any receipts or documents you upload, plus any optional deadline time and the timezone your device reported when you saved it, which is used only to send reminders at the right moment.
  • Subscription and payment information — your plan, usage counts, purchased Check, Watch and Protect slots, and payment events reported to us by our payment provider. Card details are never sent to or stored by GUARD.
  • Referral information — your referral code, referrals attributed to it, qualification status, rewards and payout status.
  • Support information — the messages, categories and references you send us, plus our replies.
  • Technical information — limited data needed to operate the service securely, such as error reports and request metadata.

3. Why we process it

We process this information to provide the service you asked for: running Checks, storing your history, sending reminders and account emails, applying plan limits and Check credits, processing subscription and credit payments, operating the referral programme, answering support requests, and keeping the service secure and free from abuse.

When a Check is run, GUARD may query public and third-party sources about the website, domain or business you submitted — for example domain registration records, certificate information, publicly reachable website content and reputation signals. Information that cannot be confirmed is labelled as unavailable and is not treated as evidence of fraud.

4. Service providers

GUARD relies on a small number of providers to run: a hosting and application platform, a managed database and authentication provider, an email delivery provider for account and transactional emails, and a payment provider for subscriptions and Check credits. These providers process data on our instructions and only to the extent needed to deliver their part of the service.

5. Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your investigation history, purchases or support conversations with other users. We may disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to investigate abuse of the service.

If you enable the optional setting that allows GUARD to use de-identified signals from your Checks, those signals are used without identifying you.

6. Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Investigation history is kept so you can revisit evidence cards; you can turn history off in Account → Privacy, and you can delete individual records. Some records — such as payment events, subscription state and referral reward records — are retained for as long as needed for accounting, fraud prevention and dispute handling.

7. Security

Your data is isolated per account at the database level, uploaded documents are stored privately and served only through short-lived signed links, and privileged operations (payments, credits, referral rewards, admin actions) are performed only by trusted server-side code. No system can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure, and we make no such guarantee here.

8. Your choices

  • Update your profile, notification and privacy preferences in Account.
  • Delete individual Checks, Watch items or purchases at any time.
  • Request a copy or deletion of your account data through Support.
  • Unsubscribe from optional product emails while still receiving essential account and billing emails.
